Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2014 Couture
For those familiar with surfing and frequent the beach, the references were obvious. A gold chain tied from a fold over clutch to an ankle cuff of a heel reminiscent of a surfboard leash, the wetsuit styled poplin shirtdress with neoprene like fabric, the oxblood bra framed in crocodile perfect for a hot day by the ocean. Further calls to the ocean emerged such as a ruffles on bodysuits and dresses shaped like the massive waves of Teahupoʻo Tahiti took center stage.
What wasn’t inspired by the ocean could be found on the beach. Loose and long fringed dresses and body hugging detailed hand-woven leather paired with stunning gold spiked chokers elegantly designed. A full sheer bodysuit inspired look which revealed everything but a woman’s secrets were complimented by a draping of pearls and stones that while opulent in nature added a bit of demure to an otherwise daring outfit.
