Miuccia Prada unveiled the Spring/Summer 2016 menswear collection for Pitti Uomo in Milan, showcasing her signature mix of gender rules.

Following the black and metallic atmosphere of the Fall/Winter 2015 collection, the Prada menswear fashion show is now focused on vivid colors and playful garments for the upcoming season. Men’s sweaters are embellished with rabbits and spaceships on the chest whilst feminine silhouettes display dresses full of eyes, everywhere. For Spring/Summer 2016, Miuccia Prada affirmed her willingness to toy with 1990’s revival, emphasizing on bold handbags and unprecedented leather loafers.

Indeed, the Milan offering is marked by the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, where women have taken up the sartorial codes of masculinity and have applied them to their own conception of femininity. For Prada, here are the beginnings of adulthood, where youth cultural characteristics, school uniforms and cartoons are twisted and turned into meaningful empowerment.
