Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, ann intimate documentary by Brett Morgen which premiered at the Sundance Film festival to critical acclaim is up for theatrical debuts in Seattle, Los Angeles and New York City just before the film’s official release, May 4th on HBO and a DVD release in November.

Trailer: Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck The trailer (above) features interviews from the legendary musician’s family members, his wife, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and never before released home footage of his home life with his wife and daughter, Frances Bean.

A book containing archival documents from Cobain as well as art will accompany the film, and the soundtrack for the documentary will feature an unheard 12 minute long acoustic from Cobain himself.

Showing in 72 countries starting April 10th, the theatrical runs in America begin April 24th, qualifying the film for Academy Awards consideration.
